Crafters, it may feel good to know your hobbies pay off. The National Association of Realtors’ (NAR) 2019 Remodeling Impact Report showed that while most homeowners left the home improvements to the professionals, they were twice as likely to DIY a household project that showcased their personality.
Taking on household projects also brought homeowners more joy — based on a higher Joy Score of 9.9 compared to 9.6. Handy homeowners have the potential to increase the value of their house, depending on the upgrade. The latest Remodeling Cost versus Value Report for 2019 found that minor DIY jobs like an entry door replacement could bring an ROI of nearly 75 percent. A more in-depth renovation like a minor kitchen remodel might require the use of a contractor and could bring an ROI of 80.5 percent.
So, start crafting. Larger home upgrades and renovation projects are likely to grow your home equity. For a festive season like fall, get warmed up with smaller repurposing projects. Save wine corks after a holiday gathering, and you’ll only need to buy a few supplies to decorate your home for the season.

How to make pumpkin wine cork crafts: Tutorial
Just a tip — fellow crafters say this cork pumpkin may look better when using white wine corks instead of red to prevent a red wine stain from bleeding through the paint:
Get started
1. Start by putting the corks in rows: four on the bottom row, five on top, six in the center row, and then a row of five followed by a row of four. Hot glue all corks in this pattern. Aim to use (or cut) corks of the same length in each row.
Next
2. Cut off the top part of the last remaining cork with a craft knife. Hot glue it as a stem to the top of the cork pumpkin.
Speaking of simple, buying a house is so much easier when you can fly.
Next
3. Dilute the orange acrylic paint with water and paint the cork pumpkin on both sides. Blot with a paper towel to keep the color light and rustic and let it dry.
Next
4. Wind the pipe cleaners into leaf shapes and hot glue to the top of the stem. You can also cut green leaves from felt instead.
Next
5. Tie several inches of twine around the pumpkin stem to look like a vine. The final cork pumpkin should be about 5 inches tall and 5 inches wide.
